College Shortlisted for two National Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Awards

Two members of our college staff have been shortlisted for awards in the National Centre for Diversity (NCD) Grand Awards 2017.
The awards ceremony recognises Further Education institutions for their work in encompassing the culture of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Principal Jasbir Dhesi has been shortlisted for ‘Principal of the Year’ and Director of Organisational Development, Vanessa Rhodes, for the ‘Special Achievement’ Award.
National Centre for Diversity have praised the College for their commitment to equality and diversity and for their continual improvement.
South Cheshire College won ‘Best Newcomer of the Year’ in 2016 after reaching 20 in their first year, for the National Centre for Diversity’s UK Top 50 Further Education Providers.
The College have demonstrated their quick progress in this area, leading to the National Centre for Diversity’s College advisor nominating the staff for the two awards.
Jo Barton, National Centre for Diversity advisor, said: “Ever since his arrival as Principal at South Cheshire College, Dhesi has demonstrated his belief in equality, diversity and inclusion.
“Dhesi has a naturally inclusive style, seeking opinion on all aspects of college life and regularly holding staff briefings, staff forums and engaging often with individual staff and students.
“South Cheshire College was named the Best Newcomer in 2016 where their initial diagnostics revealed a starting point that no other College could match. Vanessa Rhodes is one of at least two outstanding leaders at the College and is an incredible role model in this area.”
Jasbir Dhesi, said: “It is a privilege that we have been shortlisted for two awards in the National Centre of Diversity Grand Awards. It is an indication of the work, commitment and attitudes of everybody within the College and a demonstration of a real team effort.”
Recognition for the commitment that staff within Further Education institutions across the UK make to promoting a fair, respectful and equal workplace, will take place at a glamorous awards ceremony on Thursday 16th March at Queen’s Hotel in Leeds.
