Published: June 16, 2017

Cheshire Football Association is proud to announce a new and exciting sports journalism partnership with South and West Cheshire College.

The partnership will offer creative media students work placements in journalism, photography, videography and copywriting; plus a specialist sports journalism course is planned to start in September 2018.

This innovative partnership will provide opportunities and educational support for students studying at the College’s campuses in Crewe and Ellesmere Port.

Steve Stewart, Cheshire FA Chief Executive, comments: “So that Cheshire FA can keep pace with developments and progress in commerce, business, education and industry – we must try and harness the flair and skills that exist in our local college. This is a significant step for us and South and West Cheshire College – as we are uniquely placed to support and profit from each other’s strategic planning and objectives.

“If Cheshire FA can provide real opportunities for students to develop their talents and expertise in the areas listed above – with football as the key driver – then we all stand to benefit from this pioneering partnership.”

Neil Borg-Olivier, Director of Faculty at South and West Cheshire College, added: “We are very excited about this innovative partnership between our College and Cheshire FA. Our students will be able to access unique, high-quality work placements, high-level industry networks and a competitive advantage when progressing into jobs in the creative and digital media sectors.

“Employer engagement is at the heart of our strategic plans and we look forward to a long and successful partnership with Cheshire FA.”
