Pupils at Shavington Primary School enjoyed a surprise end of term visit by CBBC TV presenter Katie Thistleton after winning an Anti-Bullying competition organised by South Cheshire College.

South Cheshire College Ambassador, Lydia Greatrix, 18, from Hinstock, Shropshire, who organised the competition and surprise visit from the popular children’s TV and radio presenter, said: “We ran an anti-bullying competition that was open to over 30 schools in the Crewe and Nantwich area.

“The aim of the competition was to design a poster that explained the school’s anti-bullying message.”

The competition attracted 10 entries from schools across the area and the posters were on display at the College from 11-14 July 2017.

Lydia adds: “The standard of the entries was fantastic and we were really impressed with the creativity of the posters as well as the amazing work happening in schools to reinforce the anti-bullying message.”

Judges of the competition selected Shavington Primary School’s 5C class as the winning entry. The school not only won a surprise visit by Katie Thistleton but also £30 high street vouchers for the class.

Lydia said: “It was lovely to go along to the school to let them know they had won the prize at a special assembly – all the children were amazed to see Katie at the school, it was a great end of term treat for them all.”
